The Most Sensitive Post-Vasectomy Sperm Test Available

Detects sperm other tests miss.

Our patented process performs a highly sensitive post-vasectomy semen analysis test, detecting sperm down to 3,300/mL. Standard tests only detect sperm above 100,000/mL.

PVSA is a post-vasectomy semen analysis test kit that allows patients to collect a specimen at home and mail it for laboratory analysis.

Step 1

Collect a semen specimen at home
Privacy, comfort, and convenience with the reliability of a clinical lab.

Step 2

Deposit into collection bottle
PVSA uses a patented fixative that preserves the semen specimen for analysis.

Step 3

Drop specimen box in any US mailbox
Our fixative eliminates the time sensitivity in testing, and can be sent via regular mail.

Step 4

Analysis performed on arrival
The vasectomy results are immediately reported after our analysis is complete.

(1) PVSA is the original home collection kit for post-vasectomy testing by a federal and state licensed clinical lab.
(2) Cost quotes obtained from websites.
(3) Several methods are used to determine the number of sperm per milliliter of semen specimen; the numbers listed are the lowest concentration of sperm detectable by the test; PVSA is one to two orders of magnitude more sensitive than all the other methods.

Semen Analysis Sensitivity

“Sensitivity” means the lowest sperm count a semen analysis test can detect.

PVSA provides physicians and patients with the most reliable analysis of post-vasectomy status.

The Standard Threshold

A standard test with a threshold of 100,000/mL will only show ‘sperm detected’ if there are more than 100,000 sperm/mL. Below that, it reports ‘none detected’ — even if sperm are present.

The PVSA Threshold

With a threshold of 3,300/mL, PVSA detects sperm at much lower levels that standard tests would miss.

Patented Fixative

PVSA uses a patented fixative that stabilizes sperm in transit and introduces a predictable dilution factor for a far more sensitive test in the lab.

The Original PVSA Test Kit

We’ve been perfecting this process for over 30 years.

“We used to do our own labs in our office. Now PVSA.org does the mailing, the microscopy, the CLIA certification, everything… It’s terrific to have professionals streamline a service for us so we can focus on doing great vasectomies.”

Dr. John Curington, GreatVas Gentle Vasectomy Center

“PVSA.org is just so much more convenient for so many of our patients.”
