PVSA scientists developed mail-in test kits for semen analyses about three decades ago to support HIV/AIDS research on semen transmission of HIV. The mail-in kits now include aldehyde-fixed specimens for post-vasectomy sperm counts, as well as sperm transport media kits for over-night shipping of live sperm specimens for fertility assessment and cryo-preservation.
